I have received a response to the letter that I sent to the Consumer Relations Department. It's not much of a refund but it is better than no refund at all. I am glad that I took the time to compose a letter and send a request for a refund.

LESSONS LEARNED - Oh Boy Is My Face Red- Free Credit Report
ANOTHER LESSON LEARNED: giving out your credit/debit card number on the Internet means that you are BUYING something.
Yeah DUH right??
The Federal Fair Credit Reporting Act requires that the entire nation of U.S. consumers be entitled to a free credit report each year as of September 1st 2005.
Well 9 months ago I decided that I wanted my 1 free credit report per year. COOL!!!!
My goal: to get my FREE credit report and credit score.
I typed in this search "free credit report." Free credit Report.com came up.
I was entering in my info when I got to the section that read: "Your credit card will not be charged during the free trial period. However, valid credit card information is required to establish you account." What I didn't realize that I was signing up for a credit MONITORING SERVICE as well. I fell into Experian's back door efforts to sell their credit monitoring services. The credit report did come. Cool... After that I was getting e-mails from them and I read the first couple. They were pretty much junk e-mails to me so I deleted them along with all of the others that came from that company. No red flags to me. What I didn't know back then was that I was to cancel in 7 days if I did Not want the monitoring service. Their site has improved disclosures now.. but.. it did not back then.. Oh yeah it said "free TRIAL period." I also should have further questioned the words "to establish your account." I just thought my "account" was being set up to get the free report . You also would have thought that I would have caught the $12.95 fee being charged on my banks debit card statement. But again I didn't. I was always more concerned with the checks clearing. I never looked at the statements because I always get my balance and checks that clear on the phone. I never keep a balance ledger. I never have any other charges coming out of that account. That $12.95 amount was so little that I did not even notice it until I called and got my transactions from the weekend. What was the $12.95 charge for??? I called the phone number that comes along with the statement. Little did I know that since November 21, 2007 I was being charged this amount from my checking account. I immediately called and told the CIC to cancel my account. (The one that I had no clue that I had) I was also instructed by the CIC to write a letter stating that I would like a refund since I never viewed any of the monitoring. I wrote the letter and faxed it as I was instructed by the CIC. Well we will see what comes of that, if anything.
Some of the people on the net were posting some awful stuff about the charges not stopping. I got so scared by this that I reported an unauthorized charge to my bank and I closed my account. My bank told me that this had happened to one of their employees and this was what I should do.
I had always thought their commercials were cool. Now they will be a constant reminder of how I messed up.. Oh Boy ... Is my face RED!!!!!

HELLO TO BLOGGER
My first post..
Well, life never turns out quite the way we have planned. WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD.
I am just the same as everybody else on this planet. I am not a perfect person. There are many lessons that I have learned and I will continue to learn every day. I intend to share some of these issues here. You should stand for something or you will fall for anything.
STANDINGS---
- I believe that there is no such thing as an accident. Accidents are just someone being irresponsible.
More beliefs:
- Be a responsible pet owner. People Please think about this issue.
- Take care of your own family. After all, you made them.
- Politics, don't force your opinions on others constantly.
- Religion, find God's grace in all things.
- Morals: principles, purpose, and living traditions
First issue ...
